It's the direct communication between Hester and Mitch that keeps Local Hero so entertaining. Nora wrote this in the 1980s and there are VCRs and Who's Who references, but the relationship is timeless. -Laura

Text reads:
“I’ve never been with anyone but Rad’s father. The truth is, I’ve never wanted to be.”

“It’s been so long, Mitch. I’m frightened.”

This scene was so sweet! Mitch is scared of messing up with her. That says something about the character. I think love makes us not want to mess up with our significant other.

Nora’s books all stand the test of time. The first I read was Irish Thoroughbred. Relationships still work

This has always been one of my favorite of Nora's books. I love the relationships between the characters. Just wonderful.

Great romance!!! Reading this was like a trip back in time - no Internet, no cell phones. Just three people having a relationship!!!

A good story is timeless. And Nora tells good stories!❤️

I reread this when the quotes started. I loved it again. I find comfort in being reminded of things that we used to use.

This book is just a classic. Love the way the relationship develops!!

Sometimes when reading an older book and the hero/ heroine gets in trouble it takes me a minute to realize they don't have cell phones to call for help.

The two of them frightened made it all the better for both of them

I read this for the first time last month & enjoyed it. The story makes it timeless

I just accept the old technology mentioned, in the same way I accept horse-drawn carts and overly mannered behaviour when I read Jane Austen. It's just part of a good story

It's a lovely rearesume very sweet moments.

Ah, such a perfect dreamy sigh moment!

Finally got me a copy so I can catch up!

So honest and pure

Rereading my copy now and loving it again x

Almost like reading historical fiction 😀

I've read this book 5 or 6 times. Guess I"m reading it again!

It is the believable dialogue that keeps this timeless!

Now that's a kind remark.

This is great

Un diálogo sincero que sienta bases importantes

I found it in my book closet.

Thanks for sharing these deals with us! I love owning the books and re reading them. But, I’m taking a big European trip this winter and am stocking up on kindle books so I don’t have to carry a bunch of books in my suitcase! Anything Nora and JD Robb ❤️❤️❤️

Love this book! My mom bought it after I did and told me she had a new book started describing it ("She is a young child and meets her father, who was drunk as a skunk ...) when I interup her and say, "Oh that is LEGACY, isn't it?" (I had just finished reading it a second time a couple weeks prior.) Another, absolutely awesome book by my favorite author.

How does this ebook come? I don’t think it will go to my kindle, that’s Amazon Does anyone know?

I loved this book

Love this book so much!!

Reading now in paperback. So good

I like how Mitch lays things on the line with Hester from the start. And I can appreciate her hesitation to get involved. That's what makes this couple so much fun to watch. -Laura

Text reads:
“I don’t think you’re using Radley to get to me, if that’s what you mean.”
“Good. Because the fact is, Mrs. Wallace, I’d like the kid without you, or you without the kid. It just so happens that in this case, you came as a set.”

This story sounding interesting how old is this and will it be coming out as a reprint or reissue

I truly understand her reasons for her walls and his determination to knock them down. Very fun and heart touching to watch

I enjoyed their snowball session…and the slow thoughtful way their lives intertwined. Of course, the dog made it all possible!!!

Nora Roberts I love you’re books I have always had a book in my hand and spent my childhood in the library. Cannot wait until I can get a new book .

I thought i never read this book but i realize i have many yr ago. Gonna have to buy this book to read again and add to my collection.

He is so matter of fact in his response you can’t help but believe it

It would be a concern for any good mother, though, so it needed to be addressed. Done and done.

The interaction between Rad and Mitch was so fun!!

Looking out for each other makes them come together ☺️

Mitch is such a sweetheart, lovely easy reading book x

Mitch had some of the best lines

Mitch really likes them both!!!

This is one of my favourite books. I reread it often

Le dijo exactamente lo que tenía que decir. Hermosas palabras

I have all of Nora Roberts and J. D. Robb books except "Promise me Tomorrow" I can't find it anywhere for an affordable price.

Great book

Sorry Laura but can I get the link to the blog so I can read the first chapters of books?

Reading Identity now and then starting Mind Games. The reason I have loved Nora since I was in high school is because no matter what else is going on, she writes women strong. Women who can stand on their own but also have a soft side. Women who may have gone through things and maybe have a meltdown for a minute but then pick themselves back up and are better than before.

Looks so good. Love your books. Your characters are so believable.

I am reading mine that I won on Goodreads. So good!!

Waiting with bated breath.
